Doom 3 BFG Ed. question

DOOM 3 BFG uses the same resolution textures as both the "High" and "Ultra" quality settings in the original DOOM 3. The game uses YCoCg-DXT5 compression which results in almost no perceptual difference in quality compared to uncompressed textures while still providing a significant storage savings and an improvement in rendering performance.

damn it!

Whats the significance of this. I don't get it? Why would one be mad?

Because the BFG edition is basically a cash grab by ID - same game, a new coat of paint. Worst part of it is that all of it was pretty much available as a free mod for some years.

I do have a bias for id games (I'm one of the 3 people on the forum that actually liked Rage, for instance) but this is a blatant transparent cash grab by them.

I just played it for a bit and the textures look pretty bad, then again I haven't played it since it came out so perhaps that's what the original looks like...

Hmm, I got it because it includes Doom 3 + expansion + Doom 1 and 2...figured that for $10 it was not a bad deal at all...but yeah, it is a blatant cash grab...now if they could sell me Quake 4 for $5 on Steam I'd be a happy camper.
