Doom 3 (and/or the demo) compatible with Win98 SE?

According to ID/Activision, Win98 is NOT supported by Doom 3. However, I've seen several patches which claim to allow Doom 3 to be played using Win98.

Also, I've downloaded the demo (and according to the download site....the demo can be played using Win98) and can play it using WinXP, but so far I haven't been able to play it on a PC with Win98 SE (I get an error code saying D3Demo.ini could not be opend).

Any ideas on how I can play Doom 3 Demo using Win98 SE?

Here's a link to the Doom 3 mod for win98se. It was created by one of our members- Thugsrook. From reading in the above linked thread, my guess is that it work for the demo. Seems he added a new PK4 file with the neccessary DLLs for 98se.

You could always PM him and ask. He's a nice guy.
