Doom 3 and 6800 GT. Something is wrong here.

I was benchmarking my new 6800 GT on Doom 3 using the timedemo benchmark packaged with the game, and discovered that no matter what the quality settings and resolutions are on, I always get around 50 fps. Whether at 640x480 or 1280x1024, low or high, 50 fps. I have vsync disabled and ansiotropic filtering is even disabled. Does anyone have any idea what could be causing this. Its not like the rest of my system is horrible either. I have a 3ghz pentium 4 on an 800 mhz fsb, 1 GB of memory clocked at 400 mhz, an SATA hard drive....I mean, I just don't get it....does anyone else have this card? What kind of f's per s are you getting?

I understand that, but Im talking about the time demo. Other people with systems similar to mine have been getting around 70 fps in timedemo.

Very low scores. I get 92 in 1024 8af, 0aa
Make sure you do not force refresh rates in the nv control panel, set it application preferance

Also, if you have dual monitor setup, set it to single display. That is a known bug

Well it's definately weird.
What drivers are you using?
Also do you have vsync disabled in CP too?
And just for the record you are precaching the timedemo once right?

If by precache you mean Im running it once then running it again right after and only paying attention to the second one, yes I am doing that. I have the refresh rate set to app preference, let me make sure that I turned vsync off in cp too. Although Im pretty sure it'd have to be off for me to get anything above 60fps, and in the timedemo it does break 100 fps, just not consistently enough to yield a higher avg.

yeah vsync is off...I dunno man this is pretty weird. I have a P4P800 Deluxe mobo if that helps anyone. I updated the north bridge chipset software earlier today too.

Do you have the latest BIOS and chipset drivers for your system? Is AGP working properly (check dxdiag)?

I did look there, thats what initally got me worried. People with computers slower than mine all got at least 10 fps higher than me. I have a p4 C 2.8 ghz. Do you think maybe its an issue with having a pentium as opposed to a athalon?

Make sure your AGP aperture is set to 256mb in your BIOS.

Your CPU is decent but you would surely see a very nice boost from overclocking. An A64 would be better but it's definately not worth upgrading; the P4C is a very nice processor in many ways. Go for 3.4ghz or higher and watch your system fly. Just be careful and research overclocking before you attempt anything.
