Donut Magnet : proper use/installation?

Building a PC and I have the 'donut magnet' which, I believe
should have the power and reset switch wires running through it.

What wires exactly are supposed to loop through the magnet?
i have wires for power, reset, speaker, 3 HDs LEDs, power LED, \
reset LED,...do they all get looped through the magnet?

Does it matter where on the wires the magnet is? any info?

I wouldn't put the magenet. I've never seen them on the wires for the Power or reset switch and stuff. Don't bother.

I've never seen a magnet used for that, what you're likely looking at is a ferrite ring (looks exactly like a magnet!) To check just take some sort of metal (screwdriver or something) and see if it is attracted to it. By looping the leads through a ferrite ring, it will reduce interference picked up by those leads (the leads will act as a sort of 'antenna') At least that's the theory, in practice (15yrs worth) I've never seen it make any darn difference on the front panel connectors! You'll often see the same thing on phone cords and other electronic stuff.

Tepin, that's called a common mode choke. And it does work, but I don't why the LEDs or power switches would need it...

I did have to look it up in my electromagnetics book
