Perhaps cyrogenecly freeze yourself for a bit? I'd freeze myself for a month and wake up just in time to go to basic training. I have absolutly nothing to do up untill then. Either that or just wake up in 2050 to see a different world. "what are the 3 seashells for?"

i guess it would be pretty cool, but it would be devastating to wake up in a world of chaos and death

All I need to do 'to see a different world' is a visa and a plane ticket. And maybe a hefty deposit on my bank account. Wait, that would have to be even more important.

Capsule, no. Machine, yes.
I don't want to wake up and my family is long dead and buried.
Hell, 1000 years and bring back some toys. Well.... if humans are still around.

No. The future isn't going to be any better than now. The current time is always normal, the future is always cooler, and the past is always backwards. Doesn't matter when you live. Right now people are prefectly happy with the technology they've got, but they wonder "how did people get by before TVs?". 60 years ago people were prefectly happy with the technology they had, but they wondered "how did people get by without cars?" And 50 years from now, people will be perfectly happy with the technology they have, and they'll wonder "How did they get by without computers?"

There was a song about that. "'39" by Queen.
About a guy who travels for 100 years on a light-speed ship and when he returns, hardly aged because of time dilation, he finds a woman who looks like his wife, but in reality it is his granddaughter.

For my life, still ahead...
Pity me.
