Don't you love a clean phone? Mine smells mountain fresh!

Too bad it no longer works because my dumbass washed it in my washing machine. 😉 Anybody have any experience with Cingular's insurance plan and if they'll replace it?

I'm sure the terms of the insurance are available somewhere. Sprint's insurance has two classifications - mechanical failures ($10 to replace) and dumbass failures ($50 to replace).

OMG - I just plugged it in and it's charging and coming on....!!! But, I get no service....😕

You didn't wait long enough for it to dry out before powering it on. It would have likely worked had it dried out.

I don't think it woudl have really mattered, it was on when I washed it 😕

Doesn't matter. Trust me. I've had a number of friends who put phones through the wash. They all worked fine afterwards.

I did the exact same thing to my Motorola T720 this past summer. The washing machine was halfway through the rinse cycle before I realized I left it in my pants pocket.

I disassembled the phone as much as possible and let it dry for 4-5 days. I put it back together and, voila, works like a champ.

I believe, as of November 2004 (or was it October?) Cingular's replacement plan for people who have insurance have changed -- it's gotten more troublesome to get a replacement phone. You used to be able to just drop in a Cingular store, tell them your phone died, they ask if you have insurance, then boom! new phone. Now you have to file with Cingular that you lost/broke your phone, send them the paperwork, wait... then try to get approved for a new phone voucher. Check the Cingular.com website for more information, or better yet, call your local Cingular store.

Other than getting no service, everything seems to be working fine on the phone. Washability is truly a great feature in phones - I wouldn't have thought it would even turn on.....ahah 🙂
