When your computer starts glitching and nothing helps, so you just have to reformat. 🙂

Just after you spent three hours tidying up cables in the back of the system.

Plus trying to get clever on an old 19" lcd and remove the bezel, paint and put in oven to glaze.

So this was an interesting day, lucky none of these things were my primary system.

the best feeling is figuring it out without having to format

I tried driver cleaners for my video card, because that is what the glitch was, sli. Then windows repair and still no go. Oh well, the system had been running for a year without reformat and a lot of installs and deletes.

you were getting artifacts or the cards simply wouldn't function in sli mode?

I tried enabling sli and system would jsut reboot. This all happened after rewiring my computers and removing one monitor from the setup.

dude it's just a driver issue. My install is from back in 2004, and it's had three different graphics cards in there, with my latest card having several different drivers including third party ones, etc. It's had dodgy drivers, but you can remove themn and start again without having to reformat.

My system is still nice and stable and is also still pretty resposive despite there being a whole load of apps installed and removed over the years.

only reason i love computer errors is because people call me to come fix them. then shower me with praise when i do get things back to a-ok. if i didn't have this, i would have nothing.

Not a huge deal though, I wanted to reformat for awhile and have a clean OS to image from for the future when something like this happens agina. I jsut added backup external drives to my setup.

it's more annoying when my system is really stable. i don't intall anything i don't need, and then suddenly i need ASP, not ASP.NET but ASP, and it doesn't work and i figure it's my computer and i ave to reformat just to fix that!

If I can't figure something out within about three hours or so, I just backup the most important stuff and wipe the hard drive. I was starting to get a lot better about organizing cables in my case, but then I sold that system for my laptop 🙂
