Don't you hate people who are so ignorant when it comes to Asians?

Was watching BET's stand up comedy and they were doing clips of jokes bagging on Asians. One guy said something along the line of "...yeah they be talking Chinese behind my back but I was in Korea for a period of time so I know what they were saying."

I'm like WTF? If you gonna make fun of us, at least make sure you don't make an ass out of yourself first. Seriously some people need to be educated in other cultures besides Caucasians, African-Americans, and Hispanics.

sometimes their own stupidity/ignorance is part of the joke. well... at least thats what i get from it.

 

Gosh, Hoeboy! You need some sense of humour! Don't be so sensitive! Loosen up and enjoy the joke or ask someone who understands it to explain the humour! *Don't ask me!*

Part of comedy sometimes is making use of stereotypes or something that is not factually true but puts a sense of one's humility.

Btw, you watch BET? Or were you just flipping through? I never really enjoyed most of their jokes, but I did laugh with a few of them on those few occasions where someone else was watching the show and I couldn't avoid it.

Sounds to me like you want to be angry at the guy and are looking for some reason.

Nah that wasn't part of the joke. The joke was about how Asian people usually say a lot of stuff and you don't know if they're talking about you.

And I'm not only talking about this guy. I'm talking about a lot of people in general and how they lack so much knowledge about Asian culture.

Nah they showed clips of about 10+ people bagging on Asians. I have no reason to pick him out and find reasons to be mad at him. I'm not the type of person who is THAT uptight ya know

Well, then you have no argument because we cannot agree nor disagree with your statement because we have no context, so this thread is worthless either way. Thanks for playing.

Read your words more carefully, hon'. If you let go of your emotion first, then you'll see the pic you're missing. Your statement above is logically admitting that the statement in question was in fact a part of the joke.

And if I may add, I have watched the BET comedy on enough occasions to conclude that every comments made by a comedian amidst the audience is always part of the joke. So how you reached this conclusion of yours puzzles me. My guess is either you aren't a regular listener and just happened to have stumbled upon it. Or you are just plain too sensitive about any mention of "Asians" in humour. Please pick one yourself, for it has to be the only logical explanation for your reaction and statement.

Yeah sometimes I get pissed when they make fun of asians, but most of the time I don't think they really mean it

what's hilarious is when people come up to me and are like "Look I speak chinese! Ching Chong Chang, Lo Mein, Shrimp Fried Rice!"

If you are opposed to lumping asians in a category then why are you lumping Italians, Germans, English, Spanish, Mexicans, Poles, Danes, Swiss, ......... into just three categories. Oh and you forgot about all of the non-African blacks, and those from the Mid-East. If I wasn't so tired I could have named some more like the Columbians, Jamaicans, Cubans.......


Believe it or not, but I don't know anything about the caucasian culture, didn't know there was one. If you think caucasians are of one culture then you need some education too.
