Well, my younger brother had a birthday party today and so my parents let me invite 1 or 2 of my friends over, which I did. I was throwing away some old CD's and one pair of CD"s was for Redhat Linux. He asked what we downloaded it for since we don't use it, I told him that we tried it but it didn't turn out to be a viable option. Now we start talking about Mac's on the topic of OS's. Well, he talks about the G4 and I then tell him that the G5 is out.

He talks about how they're useless and pieces of junk and crap and how people have to be complete idiots to buy them. Now, even though I'm a PC user, I strongly support Mac's. I told him how if I had the money to spend, I'd go out and buy a Mac for most of my computer use except for gaming which I'd have a PC for, and 2k Pro or Linux if its viable as our server which we already have. He tells me that they're completely useless and pieces of junk. I asked him how he knew if he hadn't even ever used a Mac. Now he said some lame comment because he had nothing to say...

Being his friend, I didn't argue too much, but I really hate it when people, especially friends, talk about stuff they haven't ever used or understand the market its aimed at and how it differs from others.

To tell you the truth, did I have the money, I'd have a Mac for almost everything, a PC for gaming and things the Mac can't run, and the server we have jsut the way it is.

Eh I don't let them get to me. It's very easy to trap those kind of people in their own argument and own them. If they're cool, they'll know to laugh at themselves. If they're sore debate losers, they'll sulk, get defensive, or resort to personal insults at which point it's best to just smile smugly and walk away without lowering yourself to their level.:)

If only they had an Intel version of OS X, but then I suppose Apple would lose money since they would not sell as much hardware.

Many of my friends also believe that Macs are only for people that don't know what they're doing.

hmm .. i bought a cheap used powerbook (3400) .. and even though its only a 180mhz, 1.3gb hard drive, and 24mb ram system, I find plenty of uses for it.

I do prefer my PCs, but I'd love to get my hands on a semi-modern mac just to play around with OS X. (though the Price is not right for me, if i could get a G4 system for like 200 bucks, or a good G3 powerbook for like 300 bucks, then I'd probably go for it)

Macs arent useless, or Garbage, they are however, slowwer, less usefull, and more expensive than the x86 side. I would really like to see mac release X for the x86 or x86 64 CPU, but it's probably never gonna happen. Ohh well.
