Don't you hate drive-by AIMing?

When somebody comes online, says "Hello" and before you have a chance to reply log off? WTF? My brother just did that to me two times today.

Heh.

i dotn really use away messages that much

i bet that pisses friends off, o well

EDIT: yes, however, since i am in a dorm and dont have much to do, I do comulsivly check away messages.

I stay logged on to AIM 24/7 from my work computer. I always forget to log off. then when I come back to work the next day I have like 10 messages from the night before and people are pissed because I didn't respond.

Um.. don't you see that I've been idle for 4 hous?

haha, I do those when I'm doing stuff like taking a crap and felt a need to put one up. And then end it with "And so I'm dropping the cosby kids off at the pool."

Now when I'm like, not home or something, I don't have an away message 😛

Another handy one is "<Girl's name> - we need to talk. <phone number> ASAP". This is especially funny if the girl is fake and made up or hates you.

I stopped using away messages too. I'm only logged in when I'm at work these days since I use my home computer only to check my e-mail and play WoW. Even if I'm out of the office I usually get back to people within 10 minutes, so no need to put up a message. Most friends know I'm at lunch around noon so they don't message me then. And lastly, if I'm busy I just log off instead of putting message saying that I'm busy. All of my friends are mature enough to realize that IM isn't a guaranteed way of contacting me, so they just call if it's urgent.
