have to see your loved ones go through such harsh things?

I had to admit my dad to the ER today because his hands and legs were shaking. He also had a big headache and was lathargic.
He has hepatitis C you see, which is a liver disease that causes cirrhosis/inflammation of liver cells. I stood by his right side and stared at him. I couldn't help but be very very sad. I felt like crying because my dad was once a physically strong person. Now he is nothing but skin and bones, barely able to walk. For every 1 hour of active walking time, he needs to compensate that with 3 hours of rest/nap. I am really sad. :(

The worst thing was having the nurse telling me to prepare... for the inevitable. :(
It seems his liver condition has become even worse than I had thought.

I've always wondered how I'd handle it when my loved ones age and decline.

I assume your father has 100% mental function, only his physical ability has declined? If so, I'm sure he'll enjoy conversation, etc with family.

Sorry to hear of your situation :(

When I was 17, I lost my father to cirrhosis of the liver. Over an 8-week period, I watched him deteriorate to death during his hospital stay. However, my father's damage to his liver was his own doing - he was an alcoholic.

Yes, I feel for you. I am watching my grandfather slowly die. He can barely walk around on his own, he often times urinates in his underwear. It's so sad to see people you once went out together with, ate breakfast, lunch and dinner with, joked around with etc. It is sad as hell!

My goodness. :(
Thanks catlion.
Well, it's very difficult mentally for a person when they do not have their physical attributes.
Being dependent on others makes it very difficult for the person itself because of many mental reasons.
We do not understand it because most of us are in good health and can do things on our own.
Thanks for talking with me guys.
Always feels better to have people to talk with about certain difficult situations.
