Hi : need some help here....I just upgrade from win98 to homeXP..it's all working smooth...but now WIN XP is urging me to use the SwithOff button :"now you can turnoff the machine safely".
How can I change this to automatically go off from windows????

thank you guys for any help here!!

Make sure that power management is enabled in the bios, and that you have no problems in device manager dealing with acpi, etc.

Go to Start/Control panel/Performance and Maintanence/Power Options. Under Advanced tab, in the lower half of the box is a question-- "When I press the Power Button on my computer" and under it is a line with a drop down arrow. Make sure (if it is not already) it says "Shut Down". Then click Apply and OK. If that is already selected then look into your BIOS settings.

Go to 'My Computer', 'Properties', 'Hardware', 'Device Manager', 'View', 'Show hidden devices', and enable the device with the red X over it.

This worked for me.
