USPS Blows. 10 days to deliver on Priority Mail, unacceptable!

The reciever also said it looks like they had "one hell of a soccer match" with the box.

Yep, everybody, based on this singular experience it appears that an organization that handles millions of pieces a day, "blows". Stop using them immediately.

If you're so concerned about it, go deliver it yourself. $4 is a hell of a good price for the level of service the USPS provides. I've shipped many packages with them, & have yet to have a single problem.

$4 for one LOSY pound. I could go and deliver it myself of course, but the idea here is that i've paid someone to deliver it.

Hey, anyone use FedEX ground before?

Well, I use it all the time and I find it quick and efficient. The For Sale/For Trade forums LIVES off of USPS.

WOW, I actually agree with Russ on something!!! Its amazing!

Just because one package doesn't come fast or in perfect shape, doesn't mean you should just stop using a service that has a great record overall.

My troubles with fedex ground. No service is perfect and it is naive to think that they will never screw up, because they will. That's why they sell insurance.

ROFL...so many USPS defenders here! Former workers? haha

I find the mail to be reliable but SLOW. When I ship first class air mail from Canada to the US it takes about two weeks, sometimes more. Sometimes I could walk it there quicker. (this is after they tell me it will take 4-7 days)

My bet is that's the fault of customs, not the USPS.

I frequently mail packages from OR to PA, always via USPS Priority. As a rule, if I mail it Monday it gets there Thursday. I mailed Sarah's valentine's package Friday, it got there yesterday. That's pretty good service for <$4 if you ask me.

Priority Mail is a godsend, especially since they added Delivery Confirmation. Really gives UPS and FedEx a run for their money. I ship and receive Priority Mail a ton, and my experiences have been overwhelmingly positive.

Go back and check the fine print. They don't guarantee sh!t. 2-3 days is simply a "goal". They try to get it delivered in 2-3 days. If they don't, tough titty, there's nothing you can do about it.

luv2chill: I heartily agree. I have had absolutely no problems with Priority Mail.

Also, recently I bought a bunch of books from half.com, where people ship books via "media mail," which should be pretty damn slow. I got all my books (except for 2 I'm still waiting on) in 2-3 days. According to half.com's shipping time estimates, I shouldn't even have the books yet, but I've had some of them for over a week! :) Now that's service! :)

Kami - breakdown of those 2 weeks:

7 days to the border, 5 days in customs, 2 days in the USPS system.

And yes, I'm Canadian too - our postal system is a lot slower than thiers is. My sister's friend lived a 20 minute drive away, yet they still liked to mail each other (before email). Average time for a letter to get to one? 10 days. :disgust:

I've used USPS packages for hundreds of transactions. Of those hundreds, I had one that was not delivered successfully yesterday. The Priority box had gotten wet and some item I packed slipped out. It was my fault for not taping every single corner of Priority boxes. They apparently stack these boxes up to 500lbs of pressure, so some will be crushed if you do not pack them correctly and tape all corner edges.

Priority mail is the same thing as first class mail. You just pay $3.50 for the free mailing supplies. 2-3 day delivery is not guaranteed.

I've had good luck with the USPS, 3 days to get something from CA to FL isn't too bad, cross boarders and your time will go up quite a bit.

You people that think Russ is joking don't know him very well, do you? He's serious. He'll never use the USPS again.
