“So let me be clear............do not contact me and do not use my name or reference me in an unauthorized form in the future,” Delauter, R-District 5, said in a Facebook status update.

Via Facebook no less!!

“First of all, there is no requirement to get a person's authorization in order to mention them in the paper, particularly if that person is an elected official,” Rodgers wrote in a comment below the original post. “It is not just our right but our responsibility to report on people like you, who occupy positions of trust in our government, and I make no apologies for doing that.”

Delauter said he would pursue legal action if his name or reference were published again.

,.. which they just did with this news article.

What is with this bully / scare tactics from the Right? Throwing people off of a balcony, claiming there are Death Panels,.. and now threatening to sue for mentioning someone's name - who is a public government official??

“Use my name again unauthorized and you'll be paying for an Attorney,” Delauter wrote. “Your rights stop where mine start.”

I don't subscribe to the notion that Kirby Kirby Delauter is making such stupid comments because he is a Conservative. I believe it is because Kirby Delauter (R) is really just retarded. That's that the (R) after his name must mean in this case. Because any idiot in public life would know there is no requirement for permission to use their name when reporting news.

Don't make this a left/right thing just call out Kirby Delauter (R) for the retarded fool that he is.

Not just news...but analysis, opinion, ridicule, satire and anything else you can come with as long as it is not threatening.

So we're now posting about county councilmen? Is it that slow of a news day? How do people from NYC even find this shizz? Was some sort of proggie alert sent out?

There are (at least) two idiots on that city's council:

“I did not see his post, but I think The News-Post is extremely biased and someone should sue them,” [Councilman Billy] Shreve said.

Someone should sue a news outlet for (allegedly) being biased? I'm sure if we asked them, these right-wing fools would therefore agree that Fox news should be sued for every single minute of every broadcast.

Here's an excerpt from the Washington Post's more detailed story on this:

[Delauter] issued the threat in response to a Jan. 3 story about petty scuffling between council members and County Executive Jan Gardner over parking space assignments and office keys. Under the county’s new governing charter, which went into effect last month, Gardner has broad administrative powers that previously belonged to the five elected county commissioners, one of whom was Delauter.

Rodgers reported that Delauter had joined Billy Shreve, another former commissioner elected to the new council, in challenging Gardner’s decision to reserve just three parking spots for the seven-member panel on days when there are no scheduled meetings. She also wrote that Delauter asked Gardner to give the council spaces designated for her government affairs liaison and chief administrative officer.

Delauter said in his Facebook post that Rodgers called about the parking issue but that he didn’t return the message. “I did not return her call and did not authorize any use of my name,” he said.

Rodgers said she learned of Delauter’s involvement through e-mails she obtained.

Delauter did not challenge the accuracy of the story, but said that after a “hit piece” Rodgers wrote during the 2014 campaign he’d told her never to contact him again. That story disclosed disputes between Delauter and county municipalities about work performed by his family-owned construction company. It said Delauter threatened the mayor of Thurmont with legal action.

Headlee said the newspaper would continue to cover Delauter as usual.

“He is a member of the new County Council and we’re going to cover the meetings and quote him,” Headlee said. “We’ll ask for interviews and he can decline to comment.”

Better than 50 cop threads a day.....

Come on we all should be able to rally around laughing at and wanting out of office any politician at any level who has such a basic lack of understanding of the 1st Amendment regardless of party.

Just consider the source. And another way to look at it is this is the OP's safety valve. Lord knows what he'd be doing if he couldn't blow off steam here against his mortal enemy - that being any Republican.

This is gold coming from a man who belongs to the party who consistently tries to control women's bodies.

It's expected behavior & reactions from defective alarmist brains:
- I'll break you in half
- I'll throw you off of a balcony
- There will be Death Panels
- I will sue you if you use my name
- Treat recipe recommendations from the government are a sign of socialism

I know, I know, the Right is tired of being call out on it's rage, false alarms and general bad behavior (again, all derived from a defective mind), but, it's how you act,.. this news story is another example of the Right's reflection in the mirror.

I know you can't stomach admitting there is something wrong (because your defective alarmist brain deems that as a threat), but, the proof is in the pudding; the Right is WAY too sensitive to everything,.. and treats things, that are clearly NOT a threat, as a threat.

Why would liberals be upset by folk with CBDs? Take just a single example, climate change denial and the catastrophe to human life it represents. The fact that those with the defect would prefer to deny science in preference to the comfort their ego receives by being part of an alternative reality group think that could lead to mass extinction worse than we already see, what's to worry about? Having a bunch of psychopaths in your midst, determining policy, why would that bother anybody. You CBDs can't see hear or speak any evil so liberals are supposed to sit in the car while you nut cases drive us all straight into a brick wall. You can't be stopped but how are you different than terrorists. They kill us with intent, and the CBD by denial.

Not everybody understands your condition or sympathizes with those who suffer from it. Not everybody accepts the fact that the situation is hopeless and that the use of force to make you change won't change anything. Not everybody understands that the fate of all of us rests on whether you can evolve consciously or not. You have barricaded yourselves behind a wall and taken up arms against your friend, the truth itself. Those who can't understand your mental condition are bound to see you as a threat because you actually do threaten them and then complain when they express it. You create what you fear because you are asleep, romancing your ego.

I think people here are being very unfair to Kirby Delauter. It's not Kirby Delauter's job to know about archaic laws; did you know the First Amendment dates all the way back to the 18th Century? Neither did Kirby Delauter. Kirby Delauter doesn't have time to waste looking up interesting facts like that. Kirby Delauter is a very busy man. Kirby Delauter's attorney is about to be a very busy man too, since suing every human on Earth is bound to take a toll. But that's the cost of the continued commitment to excellence in the field of applied ignorance that Kirby Delauter has devoted his life to. Kirby Delauter would have it no other way.
