my boss was just telling me about this new pc i need to set up for a new employee and he say "make sure you don't use capital letters for the user name for Windows because it will screw stuff up."

i tell him the user id doesn't matter what case its in, just the password.

he says "no, it will screw stuff up. use all lower case."

he says stuff like this all the time. if i try to tell him any different he argues that he's right and i'm wrong and basically acts like i'm stupid.

Thank jebus my boss is intelligent. Is your boss in his mid 80's? User names and things like that haven't been case sensitive in a long time. Spaces I understand, but case? This is where being diplomatic comes in great handy. Next time he says something like that, ask for an example of what it would screw up so you know what is wrong next time something screws up.

tell me about it. he's been in IT for a long time but some of the things he says are just not true or he has no idea what he's talking about. this isn't the 1st time he's said something like this and i'm sure it won't be the last.
