I was looking for a Roku internet radio. They usually run around $149 new. The Roku site has repackaged ones for $129, full warranty & boxed. So on ebay they have a few that ended bidding with sellers getting the same as the new price (when you add in ebay sellers $20 shipping, which is another issue). I'm saying duh? Why would anyone buy something used from an ebay seller for the same price (or within a few $$$) as new?
Don?t ebayers know how to use google to check prices on these items???
I see this all the time, and many times ebayers paying MORE for a used item.
Is it the game of ebaying, of bidding or??? Just cant believe it.

Yeah, I see this a lot too. I think it's either:

1) Shill bidders

2) Idiots thinking that Ebay is a game instead of an auction. "Yay! I bid highest! I won the prize!!!!"

I once sold a used video game for $10 higher than I paid for it three months earlier. He paid and everything, I was shocked people were that stupid.

I think some people are stupid. Perhaps they think that because they are on eBay, the item is less than it is anywhere else so they don't even bother to check.

People are stupid. Know what the cost is on what you're bidding and bid accordingly.

What do you care anyway?

most of the time is for items that go for less but rarely come up.

Some just want to win even if they pay more.

I have sold a ton of stuff more than I paid for it even new.

close. many foreign buyers will pay more to get their hands on an item. They arent' going to waste too much time on price, especially if it's not available in their country. You wouldn't believe some things I've sold to foreign buyers, many things hundreds (yes, hundreds) over cost.

once you know how to minimize risks, selling to international buyers is VERY profitable.

Indeed! Especially items that are in limited production in the states, such as collectibles. Even though a lot of these items may end up on the clearance racks at Spencers, people in Europe and Asia will regularly pay retail and beyond, plus international shipping charges, which can double the cost of an item. But not all collectibles at Spencers on clearance sell in these places.

Which is the golden key on Ebay which you can only discover on your own, through trial and error, or with my new book: "Cheap Crap that Sells on Ebay to Foreigners" available on Ebay, of course!
