It's a lawsuit against the police so there's no clue what their side's story is. Anyone from near here?

Police Tasered an 86-year-old disabled grandma in her bed and stepped on her oxygen hose until she couldn't breathe, after her grandson called 911 seeking medical assistance, the woman and her grandson claim in Oklahoma City Federal Court. Though the grandson said, "Don't Taze my granny!" an El Reno police officer told another cop to "Taser her!" and wrote in his police report that he did so because the old woman "took a more aggressive posture in her bed," according to the complaint.

If it's partially true, there will be some $$ changing hands.

Here's the court doc.

All tazing events you can blame on the perp. There was something granny did to deserve the escalated force, there always is.

Googled "el reno, ok taser granny" and got 5300 results. Have to wait and see if others pick it up.

"took a more aggressive posture in her bed," whatever that is.

Still looking for confirmation on validity.

To be fair, when any female "takes a more aggressive posture in bed" it causes spidey to shoot prematurely. :awe:

The story says "The El Reno, Oklahoma newspaper reports that the woman threatened the officers with a knife and threatened to kill herself."

So the idiot suing the cops for using the taser to disarm her would be suing the cops for doing nothing if they let her kill herself.

More stupid stories for stupid readers.

This sounds like a more plausible story.

Yea, I'd bet this version is more accurate too.

I've witnessed cops threaten someone in a similar situation with a tazer before, but they put the knife down and let just let the cops take them to the ambulance. They weren't a bedridden old woman, but, really, anyone with a knife threatening to use in a situation like that needs to have the knife removed by force; even an old woman can stab someone trying to take a knife from her without disabling her first.

the notion that she threated to commit suicide.
Also note that the violent grabbing of her hands which resulted in torn skin would be to remove the knife from said hands.

Now, that is not to say that police brutality does not happen... but 12 cops together decided to brutalize one bedridden old woman? or 12 cops are all telling the truth and she threatened them and herself with a knife.

There is another probable option, 1 or more police officers did over react and the other police officers are coveting for them. I sure hope that scenario only exists in good old Clint Eastwood or Nick Nolte police movies from the 1980 to 1995. But life is life.

it can happen, the thing is, the more people involved, the more likely it is that one of them will snitch. Especially because the one who snitches is the only one who will not get fired...

You wish. Hate to quote cns again but it's the first google to pop up. Shot him in the back 6 times. If it weren't for the 911 tape, oh well.

obviously it happens where only 2 cops are involved... one does something and the other covers for his/her friend.
But I think (based on what he said) he meant cases where the entire department is covering up rather then one cop lying for another. Since this is a case where 12 cops were involved.
