I can't believe most here never heard of the Burma Shave signs and ads. Guess broadening one's horizons and actually reading about something other than cars, computers, or fantasy girls, watching TV, or playing video games is just beyond most here.

Yeah, what a shame people don't suddenly decide "Hey! I think I'll research an advertising campaign that died out 50 years ago!"

Because it's exactly like that, isn't it?

Isn't it though? Where does one just casually happen upon these ads in normal reading material? I've certainly never seen it.

Yeah, I'm going to have to back up sm8000 on this one - that's an utterly retarded conclusion. In fact, if you said something that dumb standing in front of me, I'd have no choice but to cast magic missile in your direction.

I've read thousands of books from all genres, i always research things when I hear of them for the first time. I have never once come across a burma-shave reference.

It's incredibly silly to say that because you never heard of some marketing campaign that died out decades before you were born, that your horizons aren't broad enough. Tell me when you were born and i'll find lots of things that were wildly popular decades before you were born that you never heard of.

EDIT: actually, bring it 😉

I was born in 84. I'm an Australian, but i consider myself pretty up on US and British trivia, so i'll stick my neck out and welcome you to include that if you like 🙂

I will be 100% honest with you too.
