Don't see Aliens vs Predator

After seeing Catwoman last week, I didn't think I could lose much more faith in the movie industry.

Boy, was I wrong.

This movie is an absolute piece of garbage, which is expected considering the other masterpieces that have been finely crafted by the same director (Mortal Combat, Resident Evil).

Aside from the overall plot being weak to begin with, there are a series of loop holes so huge we were laughing at how absurd they were.

One thing about the digital revolution which really bites is the over-use of 3D animation where models once ruled. All the aliens in action are digitally made, which is really nice for some scenes, but for others it's ridiculous.

Anyway, terrible movie.
 
Come on, deep down inside everyone who went to see Catwoman knew it would suck.

I haven't seen AvP, do they have the motion detector? Cause if they do it at least makes it a little cool.
 
I just came from seeing AVP and I didn't think it was on the same level of badness as Catwoman.

But there was some loopholes a plenty...
 
True.... The movie didn't seem very long, it needed to be longer to develop the story line better, or at least make mention that it is totally seperate of Aliens and Predator movies. I couldn't relate the original movies with AVP at all... Not enough fight scenes either. They tried to get emotion into the movie and did so in an alright fashion.

I originally can't imagine the Aliens being good at anything but killing, being that they do nothing but hiss and slime all over the place.

I just hope the sequal doesn't show the losers becomming winners...Trying not to be a spoiler 😛
 
Man the movie sucked. The script was bad bad bad. The only thing good about it was Sanna Lathan looking is lucious as ever. I'll never waste my time watching it again.
God it was stupid....Save YOUR MONEY

But Sanaa Lathan is so fine. 🙂
 
Dude I saw the movie last night and I enjoyed it greatly. I didn't expect it to be bettre than Predator 1 or anything, but it was better than I expected. I enjoyed the story of it a good bit, but I think they could have watered down the first half of the movie a little more to show more of the whole alien vs. predator thing.

The comment about the computer graphics used ... well I have no idea what you are talking about. I read somewhere on the boards, from another post where the guy read about how they made the movie, stating that they stayed as far away from CG as possible. and I think it showed. there wasn't 1 part of the movie where they showed the alien or predator that I could tell it was CG. the majority of the scenes with the predators were guys in costumes, and the parts with the aliens were robotic machines made, some which took 5 people to operate. even the queen alien I thought was done great, and I couldn't pick out one scene that was CG (it could have been CG, but they did a good job and I couldn't tell).

all in all I enjoyed it a great deal, and want it on DVD already so I can watch it again 🙂. It is just a fun, entertaining movie. you just have to go into the movie not expecting to see something that is going to live up to the originals, and if you do this, you can have alot of fun with the movie.

EDIT: I personally would rather watch AVP again then watchin Alien or Aliens again. it is just more entertaining to me.
 
you can tell just from the concept of the movie it's going to be teh suck. does freddy vs. jason ring a bell? how stupid can you be to get sucked into the hype? mwahahhahahahahahha
 
The predator with his helmet off and running looked like Ricky Williams. The movie was entertaining but at $10's a ticket wait for DVD.

I wasn't going to see it last weekend after hearing so many negative comments. Normally I don't necessarily listen much to what others have to say and make my own judgment but I had a feeling people were probably right. My son was looking forward to it and was disappointed when I said I was having second thoughts about seeing it so we saw it last Saturday.

I was never much of a fan of the Alien series but I do love the original Predator movie. I still think that one was better but I liked AVP overall. I felt the ending was rather hokey and a bit disappointing as the Predators sort of lost some of their bad ass appeal in ways which I will not get into since I don't want to spoil it for anyone. I will still get the DVD when it comes out.

Yeah, me too. I didn't have a problem with the Matrix-esque face hugger shot, though, I thought it was kind of cool.

We did get into a debate about how wussy two of the three Preds were - I wish they had emphasized more that the Preds were going through a rite of passage and weren't badasses like the ones in the first two movies.

I think she looks great in that shot and very appealing in the movie...but my tastes are quite divergent from the majority of ATOT to begin with.
 
In the comics they explain a lot better how the Preds hunt aliens in their teen years to prove themselves worthy. I figured from the trailers that the third Pred would be the older one taking the kids on their first hunting trip, but that evidently wasn't the case.

It was pretty obvious they were inspired by the comics, as well, with the exception of the setting some of the plot aspects were almost identical.

Interesting. I wasn't aware there was a comic series devoted to Predator or did the comic exist before the first movie was even made?

yeah the other two were pretty lame. they were killed off waay to easy.
