Agreed. Not just that, but it should be illegal for them to own a car--what if they drive w/o a license? Same thing goes for drunk drivers and other careless idiots.

Exactly. Driving is a privilege people, not a right.

Damn, that car is totally wrecked. It took me a good ten seconds to figure out that I was being shown the back of the car.

Dude, they're going 95mph. If you see a car in the distance, you're expecting them to be going 30-40...not fast enough to reach you in a matter of seconds.

If the 3rd car did come out THINKING they were that far away, the driver of the RSX should've had time to evade.

agree with rh71.. even if people are speeding, you still have to act accordingly. If you see a car in the distance, you shouldn't "expect" it to be going any speed at all, you should look at it and decide for yourself how fast it must be going and base your course of action on that - not on how fast he "should" be going, because clearly not everyone does that.

Dacalo - and what exactly would one of "them" be?

25 thx for asking.

No, I'm not insinuating that you're stupid. I'm flat out saying that you're stupid. Bottom line, street racing is stupid. Approving of street racing is stupid. Racing on a deserted road is stupid. Take it to the damn track, how hard is that to understand?

Gah, Canadians.

Right...

If you are gonna race, do it out in the middle of nowhere where you and an inatimate object will be the only casulties.

Glad to know no one is dead.

Geez, it's as if some people think the public officials pulled a random number out of their arse and called it :

'Speed Limit'

Yes, that sounds good let's use it!

The guy isnt lucky at all or he wouldnt of had the wreck.. People are alway going to race and that is a fact of life.. I did it when i was a teen .. and almost everyone has raced someone at some time in a car.. Racing on a track is safer but the human nature to compete and the great feeling of speed is hard to control.. all you can do is ask the ones you care for to try and be safe..

I would contest that statement unless you consider trying to get ahead of the car next to you when two-lanes merge into one "racing."

Right...

dude WTF ? Who would expect a moron to be driving at 95mph on city street?

All your lame excuses aside how would you justify somebody street racing if an innocent by stander can die? What is wrong is wrong and in my mind street racing is about as irresponsible as Drunk Driving if not worse.

May be in some pscho lunatic parallel world your argument might hold water but it sounds pretty stupid around here.

I think this was the overall point that zCyber was trying to make.

I'm not sure what exactly happened with that third car.. I'll try to get more details. Anyway, this is one of the reasons why people shouldn't race where hazards like that could appear out of nowhere (whether or not it's his fault).

I certainly doubt its the third cars fault. Even if it could be blamed on the third car, assuming the RSX driver was going the speed limit, the accident probably wouldn't have happened.

At 95mph the RSX is going to close fast. He probably thought he'd outrun the other RSX and pass the third car, but he obviously didn't pull it off.

Thanks PowerMac4Ever... glad to discover some people are not completely out of their minds here.
dirtboy - in all likelihood the accident would not have occured were everyone going at reasonable speeds. I hate it when people take an extremist standpoint though. You can't say it's all one person's fault. Because if it was, that would mean everyone else were completely void of fault which is untrue. The guy pulling out should have been paying more attention regardless of who was going what speed. Yes, it's true that the two RSX should not have been street racing - but look what happened. Would it have happened if they didn't race? probably not! but would it have happened if the guy didn't pull out? probably not!

The driveway to my apartment parking lot has a bridge to the right with an unnecessarily high wall.
If you're coming 35MPH (speed limit is 25MPH) I can't see you until I've crossed into the left lane (that's your left driving 35 towards me). However, knowing the risk, I will be able to stop before crossing into your lane.

If you were going 95, I would probably have crossed into your lane before I even saw you.

yeah, but the guy has MAYBE 5% of the blame in this case. Pulling out is a normal activity, and assuming oncoming cars on a residential area aren't going much faster than 40 MPh is also reasonable.

Your friend should have thrown it in neutral. I know I would if someone started to race someone down a street.

That kid's lucky he didn't hurt or kill anyone else and, as someone else said up here, he should definitely be forced to use mass transportation for the rest of his life.

ok, this guy was an idiot. but how can you say street racing on a deserted road is still stupid? no one is there. and those that are know what the risks are.. if not.. well then yes, they are stupid.

and drivers are freakin morons, especially on the highway.
