First Timothy Geithner now Tom Daschle?

Don't they have 'people' who do their taxes and finances for them?

and.. why aren't they being prosecuted for tax evasion and being made to pay penatlies?

they have accountants and tried to game the systems. When caught, they pass it off as a 'mistake'.

They have enough judge, lawyer, and politico buddies not to be prosecuted.

But I agree...there's too much of this crap lately.
A "normal" person would be hit with interest and penalties.

Typical politician.

Turbo tax made me do it!

Daschle is a fucking crook. If anyone on this forum stole $140,000 from the government they would be in jail, bottom line - Democrat, Republican or otherwise. You would be forced to pay back the money and serve time. It happens to people all the time who cheat the IRS.

"We have the lowest tax rate of any industrialized country in the world," Daschle replied. "That tax rate has, in large measure, been the subject of a great deal of debate about fairness for a long period of time. We have a great disparity between the richest and poorest in this country. Our view is that we've got to make the tax system more fair. But certainly I don't think that many people are overtaxed." - Oct 1997

Maybe this is all part of Obama's master plan to get Federal tax revenue back up. He's going to nominate tax cheats to his Administration so that they will pay their back taxes.

I can't help but think that $140,000 likely represents a very small portion of the taxes that he paid during that time period. There is something for be said for scale, if a guy pays millions in taxes & misses $140,000 I'm far more inclined to be lenient than for a guy who should pay $10K a year in taxes & hasn't paid in a decade.

1. Find rich people who don't pay their taxes.
2. Nominate them to cabinet.
3. Profit!!!
