Thats how life is in the middle east. And we're set out to bomb innocent people.
Ummm....we're going to be targeting military targets - military vehicles, military installations, military personnel....not innocent people
You actually think no innocent people will die? That's uhh, pretty funny.
There's A HUGE difference between targeting valid military objectives and having the very unfortunate side effect of innocents dying and PURPOSEFULLY targeting innocent civilians. If you think the U.S. truly does not care about avoiding civilian casualties at all costs, why the hell does our military spend countless millions of dollars on researching, developing, and producing precision-guided weapons and why the hell does Saddam favor using human shields?
But you know for a fact that thousands of Iraqis will die from our bombs. Our "shock and awe" plan will send 3000 bombs in the first 2 days of the war.
The lives of hundreds of thousands of Iraqis are worth it though, right??

Let me tell you a little story, maybe this will get through your thick skull. Once upon a time there was a very bad man named Hitler who was responsible for things just as bad as what happened to this woman, and on a much larger scale than Saddam could ever dream of. In order to help keep these bad things from happening to any more people, hundreds of thousands of Americans and millions of Europeans died, many of them civilians. The allied governments knew that a war with Hitler would result in the deaths of many innocent people, yet they went ahead anyway to help a much larger group of people.
That is what you are obviously missing. You are only seeing one side of it, that many innocent people will die. But would it be better to do nothing and let a much greater number suffer and die under the rule of Saddam? You cannot simply say, "well innocent people will die, so it is bad". That makes you look stupid. Just like everything else in life, everything is part of something else. Yes, innocent people will die, but if we can save more women from such torture, it will be worth it.
If you cannot understand that, then I suggest you talk to a holocaust survivor and ask them if they would have prefered if the allies had simply let Hitler do what he wanted because they were afraid of innocent people dying. The irony of such a suggestion obviously escapes you, and for that reason I feel sorry for you.

1. My sympathies for the Kurdish woman. She will never ever make a 100% physical and psychological recovery from this, and her children will probably starve to death. 🙁
2. Those Iraqi soldiers responsible for this crime make me wish I believed in Hell.
3. Some of the responses in this thread once again reaffirm my belief that select members of ATOT are really effing stupid, ignorant, insensitive jerks. I really don't understand how you people can be either the end result of 500 million years of evolution or the creation of a divine being. :| Not unless evolution or God have a seriously sick sense of humor.

Again...Originally posted by: jahawkin Of course innocent people will die. Lots of them. But its all for the security of the US.I can tell you're one of those types that no matter how things are explained, you will stick to your simple-minded one-liners and biased opinions. War is hell...no one argues that. But to remove Saddam from power and free the Iraqi population from tyranny will have many more benefits than allowing the Iraqis to suffer decades more of torture and repression.![]()

How are the people who threw gas on her and lit her different than people who waht to know why she has 8 kids. Both are equally dead to the horror of their actions.
