You know this might not be "general" hardware but this is where everyone is looking so I figure to post it here.
http://www.mwave.com also known as mwave direct is in California and I have bought crap loads from them. They are slightly more expensive than newegg, but they were one of the first big-time stores to come around, and quite frankly newegg copied them in design and products.

MWAVE has similiar products to newegg, but they carry more quality stuff and more variety of parts. I found their shipping to be excellent. Newegg sent me a Radeon that was Retail yet they didn't give me the box and warranty information, nor did they pack it well.
I called newegg to see if they shipped it OEM instead, their reply was all Retail products are like that....WTF?
I used mwave and they took awesome procedures to pack it, and I actually got the retail box I was suppose to get.

Newegg sucks on the phone too, and their return policies have a lot of strings on them.

MWAVE may look tought with procedures on the website also, but if you call them up and explain your problem then they lighten up and help you most of the time.

So, http://www.mwave.com. I hope more people will start using them....they're pretty good store.

Just wanted to share...thanks.

Everyone has had good and bad experiences with both companies, I've used both companies on many occasions with decent results each time, whoever has it cheaper of those 2 gets my business.

I've been ordering online from Mwave for over 4 years now - never had a serious problem. They use to be my #1 choice for online ordering, like you said, always had quality items, great selection, fast shipping. The only reason why I don't order mostly from them anymore are because of places like NewEgg and We Build PCs, but I still recommend those guys all the time. The shipping is not as cheap, but like I said - I'm pretty confident that they would hook me up in the event of a problem.

Mwave and Newegg are my two top choices.

Other good all purpose companies are Allstarshop, Directron, and Hyper Micro. Of the drop shippers my favorite is Computers4Sure.

Special purpose companies (cooling, cables, etc.) like 2CoolTek, Plycon, and Rackmountpro are also great.

MWave has gone down a bit, in my opinion. Their packaging does not look very professional to me.
I bought some drives, CDR's and CDROMS, and they were OEM, but sliding scratches on the sides
seemed to indicate "pulls". They all worked fine tho.

MWave has never been good. Look at their reseller ratings. Just because you guys had a good experience in dealing with them does not mean they're a good company.

Um, I've dealt with Newegg several times on the phone and they were always very helpful. I've never had the slightest bit of trouble with them over the phone. I don't know what you guys are smoking about the packing. They pack stuff just fine. I've never had anything come broken or anything. Once I changed my mind about an order after they had already shipped, and they said to just refuse the package. The credited my credit card in a few days, even the shipping costs that they had to eat because I changed my mind. Also, once they forgot to send a case with an order I placed, and when I called, they sent it out to me via next-day shipping. I have nothing but great stuff to say about them. They go out of their way to make sure you come back and shop again.

Incedentally, here's a plug for www.mymusic.com. Once again, great prices, great selection, great buisness.

Good call Windogg, 2CoolTek is great also. Bought from him a few times, and had good experiences.

I have ordered thousands of dollars of parts from Both Mwave and newegg with only a couple of mishaps. The First I had to RMA a 19 inch viewsonic monitor through Mwave which they did promptly. The second was with Newegg I tried to RMA a Keyboard and a 3Com modem both which were not working when I received them....Newegg never replied to my RMA request which really pissed me off...lost ALOT of confidence with them.

John: Go read some of those customer reviews. RMAing with them doesn't look like fun.

Whatever. All the money I've spent there has turned out fine.

Tried that too. Still no problem with them

always good experiences with mwave here. their shipping on my 21" viewsonic was cheap for 2nd day (like 45$). very helpful sales people, they turned me on to maxtor drives a while back when all i would use is seagate, now im maxtor only :) only things ive ever returned was an epox board (cant remember the model even, was for a slot a athlon). the thing wouldnt do 4:3 cpu to ram. any time i set it to pc133 it would promptly lock up (lots of folks had this problem). called them and told them and they said no problem and promptly gave me an rma, and extended my rma date since i needed a replacement board before i could send that one back. good company.

same goes for newegg. good experiences with them also. basically my breakdown is:
a couple of items, go with newegg

a lot of items, go with mwave. you'll eventually beat newegg's prices as mwave doesnt charge a set amount of shipping per item.

I have ordered from both, and I have dealt with customer service departments from both. I have had fantastic experiences with both. Newegg does tend to have better prices, though.

havent ordered from mwave yet, but i definitely wouldnt bash them either. i have only ordered parts from my comp so far, and i got them at newegg. the only reason was because newegg was a little cheaper in both price and shipping. i had decided to order from mwave until i tallied up the total for both, and newegg came out lower. both places have an excellent selection. if one doesn't have it, the other one will, in most cases. didn't have any problems with newegg, but i will probably try mwave eventually in time...

I have ordered from MWave on a few occasions. Although they're good, their prices are stilll slightly higher than Newegg. Their shipping is also behind;
Newegg ships everything Fedex so you get your stuff 2-3 days after being shipped. For the same price, Mwave uses UPS ground. The times from ordering(online)
to shipping is also faster with Newegg. I ordered some networking stuff from Mwave before ( said in stock in their Website) and it was actually a special
order item. Coupled with slow ground shipping ( item had to sent from somewhere East to CA), I got the item two weeks later. They should
do something about their inventory control.

I think MWave deserves a 7.1/7.0. I have used them a lot and had a number of problems (that were not their fault) and they were great about making things right. I ordered an SODIMM that did not fit my laptop and they took it back with NO restocking fee. Also, an item got "lost in the mail" and they re-sent it quickly. MWave is still my first choice

I have just recently started using Newegg. They have yet to really impress me. Their prices are good but their policies and selection are not as good. Also, they can take longer to ship than MWave.

I hate the fact that I have to pay for will call at Mwave. But oh well, I usually get all my stuff at the computer shows that come around every now and then.

I once suggested a friend to buy Enlight 7237 case from mwave, they put no brand PS in it without stating that Enlight case comes with non-Enlight PS, so they're cheating, they're bad. I don't suggest friends to buy from mwave again.

Man, if that is true then that indeed sucks - wouldn't think Mwave would do a thing like that. The last three system builds with Enlight 7237 cases have all come with "Enlight Power Supplies". It's funny, many of my RMAs and probs I have over the years have to do with the power supply being tampered with, changed, replaced, etc. also - there is just no excuse for this.

I know now they don't cheat on the Enlight case, but I still won't buy from them anymore.
Their price is not better than newegg, and they rip you off on the shipping charge which newegg doesn't.
