I'm just curious how the new version of Intel embedded video performs....
We may be surprised... maybe not.

If it's rather close to my Radeon 8500LE I can sell it with the rest of the system. :)

whoops. According to VR-Zone, it sucks as bad as the original. I'm-a-keepin' my Radeon 8500LE. :)

It is geared for the word processing, interent surfing world of pc users...Which however is the largest segment...LOL.

If I was uilding a system for my MOM I wouldn't hesistate to get it, if the price was right.....I used the onboard video of my i845g mobo and it looked fie playing dvds, doing some 2d cadd, etc...

I wouldn't even use it for my mom's pc. I think she is using a Ati 7000.

Considering what my mom-in-law and other relatives do with a PC, a Celeron and X2 IGP is more than enough to handle it ;)

Nope. They actually did some reworking for the i845, and again for the i855/865 series. Apparently it performs about on par with a gF4MX with SDRAM. Nothing stunning, but it'll get by the basic gaming tasks.

If Intel Extreme video 2 on par with a GF MX4 , that actually isnt that bad in a sense for integrated graphics.

It seems when any product is labeled "EXTREME", it is usually pretty far from extreme. It is a marketing tactic for the last few years which is getting pretty old. I guess they are trying to lure the young "hip" crowd.

Just remember, if you see the word exteme, it probably is the opposite.

That's humorously ironic since the Intel Pentium 4 Extreme Edition is the fastest desktop CPU Intel has *almost ;)* released to date ;)

It's still a marketing tactic none the less. Like the p4 EE is just a P4 with extra cache. But they are not going to call it "A P4 With JUST EXTRA CACHE!" .

Click here :p Seriously though, my point is that sometimes the label extreme, marketing term or not, does indicate that a product is pushing the current envelope, so there is no good "rule of thumb" in such matters ;)

Intel is actually pushing to get their video chipset to be in compliance and supported by new releasing PC games.
