Well I am fixing up the desk for my new rig, and I was going to paint these two peices of wood that I would attatch to my desk. So I took the two pieces (Never been painted before, freshly cut from Home Depot), and brought some Wal-Mart Flat Black spray paint, and painted the two pieces. They're dry, but whenever I like pick them up or something, this black powder gets on my hands. How do I stop that?

I think you should "stain" plywood (a bunch of times) since paints don't stick well to it then put a glaze over it and sit back and watch it dry. Also you could ask the Home Depot guys since they ussually know what it is with doing home improvement.

The black powder is paint that dried before it got to the wood. Get a tack cloth from a local paint store then rub the wood to get off all the excess paint. Then to seal it get some clear coat. I think it comes in semi gloss and gloss.

Thanks for your help. I'm gonna do that tomorrow. Either i'm gonna go buy some enamel paint and repaint it, or take the tac cloth and clear coat it. Whichever is cheaper
