Dont know what to do.. :(

what should i do, go single athlon xp or dual athlon xp on a tyan tiger mp. I hear that the new mpx chipset doesnt support xp's so that makes me wanna go tyan tiger mp. If i go single proc, what motherboard should I get. I dont know what to do 🙁

If ya guys could help me out, it'd be appriciated.

I'm runnin on a p3 1ghz with a gf3 with
2x IBM deskstar 60gxp 60 gigs
Promise Fasttrack tx2
Sony CPD-G520
I do mostly gamin but id like to start rippin dvd's
pls help any hardware recommendations would be good, cause i'd like to retire my p3 to a 2nd comps position

I think the dual xp solution on the tiger mp is the best choice. The mp's are no better than the xp's but for the option of dual processing on an mpx chipset, which is just as good on a tiger mp as far as i'm concerned. All they did was cripple the xp so it could not be used on an mpx chipset so they could charge an arm and a leg for the mp's.

Not all XP's will work in dual CPU configurations. Some of the first ones released did work, but it is luck of the draw. If you don't get them, then you will have wasted money on a 2nd CPU.

If you decide to go the single CPU route, I really like the EPoX 8KHA+. Lots of tweaking and overclocking features available, plus it's very stable. The price is pretty reasonable as well, you should be able to get it for about $110 shipped. Truthfully though, if I were you, I would just stick with my 1GHz. You aren't going to notice any serious performance jumps for all that money you are going to spend. You may as well wait, because prices always drop. Wait until you can increase your clickspeed by at least 50%. Right now, you're operating at 1200MHz. Wait till you can get a 1.8GHz (Not a P4). Something that is close to the P3 in terms of IPC (Athlon).

i just wanna get a comp as of now, because i am always selling them off to my family, and i was lookin at the abit kr7a-raid how does that board look, stability, ect...
i just want to get another comp, incase i decide to sell the p3 to a relative, cause one of em was lookin at it
