I, like the rest of the masses, am finding myself wanting to do a carreer change into the area of IT. I have always loved computers...playing around with them...trouble shooting...tearing 'em apart (and to my astonishment puting them back together to find they work), etc.!!! My question is, should I start off by getting my A+ and then work onward??? I would love to get a job working for some company as a systems admin. Is the A+ needed before going on to get MCSE??? And what Cert's are recomended as some basics to get for a descent job??? I know there is no substitute for actual work experience (this is something I'm working on figuring out as well...how to get a job without cert's and without much exp!)....but I am still confused as to the best certifications to supliment the exp!
I am still researching the whole HUGE world of IT, and while it can get overwhelming at times....I am determined to put myself smack in the middle!!! I just need some pointers on which of the thousands of directions to go in.....
Thanks to anyone who takes the time to read my book...and thanks even more for those who give me some pointers!!!

peace

Most people will tell you that A+ is a waste of $100. I know people who have all the CompTIA certs (A+, Net+, iNet+, Linux+) and they don't even put them on their resume. If you've ever looked at the A+ exam questions, and you consider yourself good with hardware, you should be able to answer at least 60% of the questions right without studying anything.
