Preferably an old-dude barber shop, but any place that gives a decent cut and doesn't charge an arm and a leg (>$30) would be fine.

From a friend living downtown, he recommends Rudy's @ the Standard or (for probably less $$$) this other little shop on San Pedro, just north of First Street in Little Tokyo.

If you were down my way (near 605 & 91), I know of a place a couple of miles away that's staffed by an unbelievably nice and talkative older couple (guy's only one there most of the time) who do a bang-up job of a haircut for $12. Any stubble is gently tackled with a home-made soothing cream and straight razor. Afterwards, a generous splash of refreshing lotion wakes you up, and to top it off, a quick & spiffy neck, shoulder & upper back massage sends you on your merry way. Not bad, eh?

;)

Disclaimer: No, I don't work for the guy, and neither is he a relative. :p

The Standard's deal is that they have very attractive barbers - the cut is nothing special.

There is a salon on 7th street between olive and hill that does cuts, it's right around $30 though (but it's a good cut and they'll do whatever you want them to do).
