Doesn't seem to be a bad deal. More power than I have here @ home LOL! Also, check out Dell. I have an Inspiron 4100 (PIII 1.0 Ghz/256MB/20GB/DVD/LAN/56K/15" TFT UXGA/XP Home) and I love it. Battery life is not that great, but it's mostly plugged into AC anyway. I paid $2,014 in 12/01.

I would check the following before deciding...

What RPM is the Hard Drive (4300 or 5400)?
ATI made those cards with up to 64MB of RAM if you wanted more...

The XGA screen (1024x768) is not very good. Personally, I would not get anything less than SXGA (1400x1050) or UXGA (1600x1200). The high res screens are so much more clear and easy to work with.

For a bit of reference, I paid $1570 for the laptop in my sig back in November.

hmm, thought the I4100 came with a 14.1 screen!
