Don't have permission. Error 144

There are too may categories now so I went into my profile and turned off all the ones I don't use very often from showing up in the side bar. However I still see them from the main forum page to access them if I need to.

Problem is, if I have them hidden from the side bar, go to the main page to see one, click it to try to enter, I get a pop up that says I don't have permission to access that forum. Why would it deny me access just because I have it hidden from the sidebar? That's really ridiculous.

Please fix this.

Well, then it's been broken for an awfully long time. Just because I Don't want a certain forum clogging up my sidebar doesn't mean I want to block myself from EVER accessing it...

I can't really see the logic in blocking the forum just 'cause it's not displayed in the sidebar. Doesn't really make sense...

The sidebar is just an indication of the forum that you wish to view.

If it is not on the sidebar; the system thinks that you are not interested in the forum at all.

If that's the case, it shouldn't display them when you're browsing categories.

And that's exactly the problem. That should not be how the system works. There should be a way to just not SEE them on the side bar but still be able to go to them manually. There's just too many categories now to have them all listed on the side or I have to scroll down to get to the ones I really want.

Give them 2-3 years to iron out the issues.:p

Any chance this issue might be fixed any time or is pretty much just a broken feature with no hope of being resolved. It's really a pain in the ass to have to go unblock a category just to make a post and follow it for a day or two and then go block it again so my sidebar doesn't go off the screen.

This feature works as it is supposed to. The option is "Category Blocking" not "Category Removal from the Sidebar." When you choose a category to be blocked, you no longer have access to it. One of the results of this is that it gets removed from the sidebar.
Another result is that, if you try to access the category from the main page, you get a message saying you don't have permission to enter. It's not denying you access because you removed it from your sidebar, it's denying you access because you blocked the category.

If the sidebar is too obtrusive for you, click on "Hide" at the top right of the sidebar and voila! it's gone.

Well that's just a really dumb implementation of that feature then. Why would I want to completely restrict myself from ever entering a certain category? There's no reason for that at all. But there is a reason I'd want to have certain categories not show up on my sidebar. The sidebar should be basically a Favorites list for specific categories instead of specific posts.

There's no reason I can think of for it to work the way it works now.

Like most everyone else, I use the sidebar all the time. It's a quick jump to a new category without having to go back to the main page. But there's so many categories now, the list goes off the bottom of my screen which makes it very inconvenient since I can't rearrange it to put my favorite ones at the top. The solution is simply to fix the way the "blocking" is implemented.

Being able to block myself form going into a category is useless but being able to remove a category from the sidebar to weed out the extra junk I never use is very necessary. I should be able to do one without the other.

IMHO the ability to block a complete category so I simply can't access it at all is useless.

Why aren't you bringing this to the attention of Fusetalk directly? They do have a suggestion box I hear.
