I say "Do you want the service plan? No?? Okay." 😀

Very good. The people at CompUSA get it when I say no, but the BestBuy people just keep going and going.

Exactly. That's why I don't normally shop at Bestbuy. Not that they really have anything I want at decent price. to internet shopping.

Really, though, it's tough, being an employee, working pretty decently, but when people get screwed, they for some reason don't get that I don't have the power to change everything. 😕

Ya, Best Buy really pushes me to sell service plans. Apparently they "aren't making any money off of them" because it is contracted out to insuarnce companies. I say it's B/S and only offer it on items were it is useful (ie. digital cameras)

I wish more people understood that. Don't take it out on the employees. At least take your problems to the manager instead of b1tching to some employee who has no control over the situation.

If I have a problem, I always escalate to a manager before I start yelling. It makes no sense to yell at a poor CS worker.

Cause honestly the extra dollar/service plan sale really isn't worth it.

I work as a techie at CompUSA, and I just tell people what to buy, and if the service plan is really worth it, then I tell them to get it. More down-to earthly.

Plus, many people that liked what I told them came back to consult with me before buying.

I'm in Geek Squad at BB, what is worse is when people call, ask of the status of their computer, and I have to tell them nothing's been done on it. Then they b1tch at me, even if I've never touched the thing.

A good amount of these customers know that the CSR they're dealing with can't do what they are asking for due to policy. So they yell and raise their voice, and attempt to intimidate the employee into making a rash decision to meet their request.

No, what is worse is when my friend brings her computer with a service plan in to BB because graphics card isn't working properly, they wait a week, and give it back to her with the same problem. The problem was properly diagnosed because we could swap in another video card and it would work fine. Unless I'm mistaken, the service plan indicates that if there is a problem with merchandise under that service plan, the merchandise will be replaced for a new one (in this case a video card, but the same one was given back to her).
