Today on Autorotica on Speed TV, they are showing a documentary on the Ford GT40. The car that tore up LeMans and beat Ferarri at their own game.

It should be an insightful show and hopefully most of us will gain appreciation for domestic car makers (Ford atleast).

maybe if i was driving in LEMANS or thinking about buying a GT40, maybe then id think ford had something going for them. but it makes me mad that ford would make a car this good with the rest being crap.

It only did so because Ferrari had no money... so i heard... 😉 😛

Enzo did not want to relinquish control of their racing program when Ford was about to buy them... so Ford kicked their ass instead... 🙁

yeah, Ford was in negotaition to buy Ferrari, and at the last minute Ferrari backed out (kinda the way Ford backed out of the Toyota deal at the last minute). This pissed off Mr. Ford, so decided to kick their [Ferrari] ass at their own game.

Also did you know that Ford engines have won the most races in F1. Ferrari is close to their record, but haven't reached it yet. This means Ford holds the most amount of wins as an engine maker in F1. Pretty cool stuff. And they are apparently the company most involved in motorsports in the world.

And we all know that Ford builds better cars than your vaulted Ferrari. Sure Ferrari cars are prettier and faster, but they are worse built than Ford. Ford gives out recalls when they have manufacturing/engineering problems, Ferrari just gives a one year warranty. 🙂
