I love Dragon's Quest in theory... but man, the games are so long that they're exhausting. I couldn't even tell you the last one that I played to completion but it was probably on the NES.

It's not $20. This is a common accounting tactic used by merchants to insure against return fraud from people who buy merchandise during a promotion with a gift card and then attempt to return the item but keep the gift card.

Some people have managed to get Best Buy to price match these promotions at full MSRP but with a Best Buy gift card instead, but that depends on the whim of the person at the customer service desk.

lol i didn't mind how long it was. I loved the game. the story and gameplay were great.

good to have a RPG that was not all about cutscens and graphics (FF series..).

I played DQVIII and found it to be really, really boring. The story was derivative, the characters were one-sided and uninteresting, the fighting system was decent but nothing extraordinary, and the enemies were really repetitive...

Besides all that, I still feel the need to get DQIX.

Maybe it's because the game is on the DS. I could play for a little bit whenever I wanted to, rather than having to sit down infront of the TV and make a large gaming session out of it. Plus, things like character customization seem interesting.

Yeah, I only have one near me and it is in a bad part of town that I don't care going to.

K-Mart has really stepped it up with their game deals though.

I need to pick this up, but I've been waiting for a coupon code to surface (like the GameStop 20% off DS $29.99 or more from earlier this month). I think I've played all of them through to the end except 6 and 7.

Once per day. The only thing that I can't stand is the multiplayer aspect, where you can get armor and maps. Not quite as easy as it would be in Japan 🙂. I just beat it last night and am now doing the post game stuff.
