Don't feed the troll

There's a new poster on our board that essentially is going into every thread and arguing.

The whole point of his posts is the argument and disruption. That is the agenda.

It doesn't matter that the people who argue with him win the arguments or that his logic is circular. He doesn't care about winning, he just cares about the attention and the disruption.

This type of troll is a little different than the typical troll that makes inflammatory statements and then enjoys the flame wars. Because the posts are semi-reasonable, it draws responses (it took me a while of reading other threads to see the pattern and I was responding until then). The end result is the same - no real discussion other than trying to refute his circular logic.

The best way to deal with a troll like that is to ignore him and to give a heads up to newer posters that don't realize what he is doing. If you must respond in some way, feed him a :cookie: with no other text.

Eventually he will get bored and go away.

Indeed sward666. He should research logical fallacies.

"There's a new poster on our board that essentially is going into every thread and arguing."
I believe that is one of the points of this forum. I can't see what is wrong with debating.

Moreover, I am not in every thread.

This will be my last post on this topic since it is not germane to news or politics.

I look forward to cogent discussions with you.

Dealmonkey - You're free to ignore my advice. Just like I'm free to give advice (and you're free to comment on it).

What does this have to do with Politics and News?

Sorry, I haven't seen to many of InfoHawk's posts, but I think there are people here like JohnGalt that won that award first. Not that we dont all have our bad days... :)

Infopigeon has his own distinctive passive-agressive style. Combine thatwith his rod-up-the-ass superiority complex, and you've got one annoying bird.

He got under my skin with his oblique but insistent support of Zillatroll's unbelievably inexcusable response to the combat death of Sgt. Maj. Michael B. Stack, who left behind a wife, Victoria Suzanne, three daugthers and three sons:

"well he died in vain in a mission that shouldnt have lead to his death, for me that means he is a loser. sorry."

glenn1 knew and served with him.

I have already petitioned the Mods for Zillababy's banning, but we all know what a crapshoot that can be.

So, Infopigeion, feh, his annoyance pales in comparison.

I hear you Perk, I normally don't condone having to contact Mods for anything but that was so dispicable of that Zilla character :|

At least a long vacation to think about it.

That sounds familiar.

I had heard it somewhere and it stuck. Googleed up this:

Do our other resident trolls (and you know who you are) have a problem with him?

yeah, there are varying degrees of trolls, and this guy isn't up too high from what we've seen in teh past. Anyone remember KAMAZON who plastered this forum w/ LaRouche quotes for about a month or two? He seemed worse. We can all troll every once in a while. Some just start out doing so more when they first join us and tone it down after a while for some truly thought provoking debates. Others just leave when they see we don't feed them anymore. Only time will tell.
