Numerous German-language sites have reported that Far Cry development studio Crytek have been raided by police and authorities after an ex-employee informed them of widespread software piracy at the studio. Reports indicate that the software has been used to create the game and that the value of the software, if purchased legally, would be over 1 million Euros. The home of Faruk Yerli, one of the three brothers who set up Crytek, has also been searched for illegal software (thanks ve3d). No comment from Ubisoft nor Crytek has been issued yet at this point.
Ha, first Half-Life2 now Far Cry. Too funny. I bet they warez their copies of Maya and VS.NET. LOL!

Ubisoft was informed on Wednesday, in the beginning of the afternoon, of the search of the premises of Crytek the same morning. We cannot give any comments on the judicial enquiry concerning the management of Crytek and we hope that the suspicion of a fraudulent use of an image-treatment software reveals to be unfounded.

The Crytek team has started working again normally as of Wednesday, 2 pm and works relentlessly on the finalisation of Far Cry. The game will ship as planned at the end of March.

Eh... come to think of it though.. I am starting to lose interest in this game already. The demo has barely worked for me... I mean, I have what can be considered a high-end system, P4 2.6 HT, 800Mhz FSB, 512 Dual channel 400Mhz, 9800 Pro retail... When I first tried the game with 1600x1200 (native res.), it wouldn't even load. It would load about 75% then crash with a white screen and a 'critical error' which did nothing to tell me what the problem was. I tried running it on the next highest res, and then I found out that I couldn't use AA either, because the entire image was distorted and discolored. Fine. So I turn that off and run it. Jumpy as hell. I had used "Auto Detect" for my video options, but I had to select all the lowest options for the game to even run smoothly. Although half the time I would get a bluescreen and another critical error for no reason at all.

It still looked better even with these low settings than most other games I have played, but come on... They flaunt it as having outstanding graphics, and it's supposed to look AMAZING with AA on, but how the hell is anybody going to be able to play it when most people have systems at or below the level of my own?
BTW, I am running with the recommended Catalyst drivers, all the setting they suggest, etc.

I'm very disappointed.
