Powweb.com are a bunch of crooks. wanna know how they do business?? here's how they're trying to eff me:
i received a charge of $93.24 for a year's worth of web hosting (they renewed it from the previous year) on 4/22 (remember this date because it comes into play later), though i didn't receive the bill until 5/24
i sent them an email late april (i can't remember exactly what the day was) saying i didn't want hosting from them anymore and they can let my account end when my hosting plan expired. i didn't remember the exact date i signed up for their year hosting last year, but i knew it was in late april sometime
so, i emailed them saying that i didn't receive a credit on my credit card for the services i wasn't using. they then sent me the following email:
'According to our User Policy, in order to avoid renewal charges, cancellations must be received at leaast 15 days prior to the renewal date. Christian G. Customer Service PowWeb, Inc. "Your Perfect Hosting Solution"'
so, i challenged this and said i didn't recall getting an email prior to the renewal date. so i get this message:
We did, in fact, send you a renewal notice with ample time. Please see below: Description: Email Sent To jdjohnst@bw.edu Date: 2002-04-08 00:00:30.
who can find the error here???? let's review:
billed on 4/22
was supposed to cancel no later than 4/07
was sent a reminder message on 4/08
and they still won't refund my money. so, tell everyone that these people are CROOKS!!!!!!!!!! i'm gonna refuse the charges on my credit card end and gonna tell everyone online not to buy from them. oh, and they're gonna receive a link to this post and we'll see if i get a credit.
keep this at the top!! i want everyone to see this!
