... if you ever want to actually recieve your computer.

I paid through my nose for a really nice PC, a Dimension 8250 with all the trimmings.

2.66 ghz processor
512 mb pc1066 RD ram
ATI Radeon 9700 TX
120 gig hdd
Win XP pro, SP 1
SB audigy 2
Altec Lansing ada 745's 4.1 surround sound speaker system
250 mb zip drive
16x dvd rom, 48/24/48 cd/rw.
and so on...

this was ordered 10 days before xmas, and they told the orderers that "No problem, it'll arrive in time for Xmas". Well, bull$hit. Their revised ship date, according to their site, was today, and it hasnt yet had any work done on it. So now their revised revised ship date, according to their site, isnt for another 7 days. I call to complain, and they tell me I have to talk to the "specific sales rep" that sold me the computer, and inputted the order. well, i was bounced around on their little telechain for an hour, got nowhere, and hang up.

so whats the secret to actually getting your order to arrive on time? how about standing on your head while ordering? it couldnt hurt. well, maybe, if you have trouble standing on your head.

Funny, and it seems like the guys who get in on the sub $400 dells get them just in time. I purchased several and had no probs, except for with the rebates at first. straightened out later though. but yes, i know dell can be b*astads but with some of those prices, i'll put up with it.

and why didn't you bother to record the salesperson's name in the first place?
You ought to start learning from Skroob about how to deal with Dell.

Ask PAB, he seems to have plenty of experience with dell. Call em up and see if they will take some off.

They always deliver our computers on time at work. I do work for the federal gov't though, and I guess we're a pretty big contract for them...

Walleye: unless you need it for an emergency, go ahead and cancel it man. This is a blessing in disguise. I haven't heard of anyone paying that much for your pc, or any pc for that matter. if you're paying over 1 grand for ANY Dell (not incl. monitor) you're paying too much. These days you get top of the line dells after coupons, rebates, for less than one grand.

not necessarily. You can purchase from Dell Small business, and put it in a friends name or something? it isn' thtat hard if you are just a little creative.

I think it's just the fact that you got such a totally custom configured PC, it's taking a while. Maybe they slapped it together a couple times and had glitches. You don't know what motherboard they're using, right?

I also am surprised Newegg can't better that deal by a fair margin. For budget PCs, Dell is the way to go. Shipped a couple out for me in less than a week, easily. I didn't tweak the configuration, so that may have helped. For a high end PC, I'd rather pick out the mobo and power supply, than let them do it. If you can, cancel. Newegg will get that stuff out to you by next Wednesday at the latest.

yeah, but if you ask for free upgrades...there's a good chance that's going to slow down the whole process...

It could be a particular component, I'd guess it's the Audigy2, that's delaying your system.

"and they told the orderers "

WTH does that mean ? You mean you aren't the orderer ? How do you know what DELL actually said ?

yeah dell sux! They would lie about the shipping day to get you to order the item. Case in point, I ordered the canon s230 on monday, and the camera was showing "ship within 5-7days." I knew that was BS, because I've heard others have ordered it a while ago and they still haven't got their camera yet. I was right, I got an email the next day saying the camera will ship on or before 15th. Since I need a camera for my up coming trip on the 18th, I called and complaint about the delay. After numerous transfers, They were able to upgrade my ship from ground to next day for free, but they still can't garantee I will get the camera on time. And I don't know what happened, but I guess when they upgraded my shipping, they somehow deleted my 10% coupon from the order, so I am charged full price for the camera! So I had to call again, put on hold, etc, and finally got to talk to the service rep, and she told me there is nothing she can do about it without the invoice, and transfered me to the sales department. The sales guy told me in order to get the 10% off again, I had to cancel the order and reorder the camera again. I didn't want to lose my spot on the waiting list, so they transferred me back to ther service rep, and opened a case file for me. Once the camera is shipped and an invoice is generated, I can then get the 10% back! geez..all these works for trying to save $40!

funny, just got an email from a company that does the customer satisfaction survey for dell about the experience with their reps. Guess I will go fill it out and see what will come out of it.

that means that this was a christmas gift to me. No, i didnt actually talk to them, but telling u i was the orderer would have saved a lot of annoying and redundant explanation. but since you asked for it... when one of us kids reaches our senior year of High School, our parents buys us a computer, always has been a Dell (good service, up till now).

Now when it came my turn, i know a bit more about comps than my siblings, so i asked for some specific parts. i was given EXACTLY what I wanted, + a few upgrades. now, I was told 2 days before xmas that my computer probably wouldnt be under the xmas tree, and it was then that i was told that my parents were told that it would arrive before Xmas. On Christmas, i was given a piece of paper, outlining the specs that i would recieve in leu of a system, because Dell cant get their a$$ together. That piece of paper told me the ship date would be January 3rd.

Today is January 3rd, and i looked online with the product reg # and the customer # to see the progress on my system. I call my mother, tell her to call Dell, and it was her that told me about all this phone hassle sh!t that was going on. So, i check online again, and it says the same thing. Moral of the story, dont pay full price for a Dell, it seems they like people to rip em off with these unbeleiveable deals. So, by all means, rip em off and get every bit of cash you can out of those a$$holes!

I've bought close to $40,000 worth of goods from them without a hitch.
