* Don't even think about getting a IT job without .........

i need to learn some 1337 database skillz

we have some stuff going on at work that will provide an excellent opportunity to learn some db , now i gotta get motivated!!

I wonder if Pascal and COBOL count as significant modern programming languages or did I waste time and money going to college.

This really depends on what the person considers an IT job.
Almost every job these days is related to IT somehow.

Realistically, for someone who needs to do some real work, I think this stuff listed is probably minimal, and doesn't require any college. This is coming from a uni student.
Different skillsets are required for different IT positions. That list sounds like it might suit a helpdesk dude, or tech support.

Did you guys even read it? It says "at least several of" not "ALL of the following skills".

with the # of IT professional out of work, only thing I can think of is that if u don't have ALL the skill + extra (that's not mentioned) on the list

I think you will have a tought time landing a IT career.
