As sad, or maybe selfish as it may be, when I spent months in hospitals after my spinal cord injury I saw many examples of this. I was in A. I DuPont hospital for children in Wilmington, DE in the rehab area. They rehab SCIs, brain injuries, and burn victims. In addition, there were a few children with terminal cancer, on their last leg before they returned home to pass in peace. This keeps me going...It showed me that if these kids can do it, I can. Someday I hope to better the life of just one of them, I have to. I owe my sanity to them, and if I could give up anything to better them, I'd do it in a heartbeat. They're some of the most admireable people on earth, yet they're sadly overlooked. True monuments of willpower, bravery and hope, and I hold them to the highest regard.
