Hello,

I have a friend who want's to upgrade a hard disk on a Celeron e-machines system that uses a 440LX AGP chipset. I assume this is the northbridge. Would the southbridge support large hard disks at ATA66?

Thanks,
Nate

How big you need, i just install maxtor 20 gig ata100 on p233mmx e-machine and it runs flawlessly.
if i'm not mistaken some"old" bios can take uo until 32 gig. but i'm not sure at what point is "old" and "new".

No, old BX uses UDMA-33. But fear not, the faster drives will run on the slower interface.

Your question actually should have been, "does that old BIOS run large HDDs?" That an Award or AMI BIOS? How old? Update available?

regards, Peter
