Basically, CPU is OK, although 4C/4T is kind of weak for 2019-2020 AAA gaming, but the GT 1030 DDR4 version? The 2GB GDDR5 is almost too slow for 1080P gaming, and the DDR4 version is around HALF the performance! For them to call this a "gaming PC"... well, I guess, at least it actually HAS a GPU. A friend of a friend, bought a gaming PC from BestBuy (maybe 3-4-5 years ago), and it only had the Intel iGPU. Yeah.

Maybe they should have listed it as a 720P Gaming PC. That would be a bit more accurate.

Or maybe they should have stuck in a GTX 1650, and called it a "Real Gaming PC". At least, that card can handle most modern titles, if @ 30FPS @ 1080P. Maybe 60FPS on titles from 2018 and previous, maybe with turning down a few setttings.

Edit: Here's a GamersNexus article about it:

The 4770 is 4c/8t and still a good CPU. That 1030 though!! I remember when that DDR4 junker hit the market, the tech tubers were all roasting it hard. And there are some games that will not run 30fps consistently even at 720 low. You have to turn shadows off and other tweaks the people buying these no nothing about.

And of course the other major issue is the price. Here is a similar Optiplex with a 4790, 8GB ram, 128GB SSD, and a Radeon 240 for $255 shipped Ebay link. For the folks that buy a prebuilt like this, that are intimidated by the prospect of taking the case cover off, it is a much better value. Many buy these because of the eleventy million YT tutorials on making them low budget gamers. They can add 8GB ram, game drive, and a much better GPU, and still come in under that price.

Here is the 240 in action for reference -
