I ordered a Celeron 1.2 from Edge Micro back on 7/18, and I am still wating on it. I tried calling the day after to cancel, as Googlegear had the retail version for only $2 more with free 2-day FedEx shipping, and go through twice, but no one picked up -- just hold music for over 10 minutes, both times. After that, every time I called I just got a busy signal, today included. Basically, cancelling is impossible.

I've been in e-mail correspondence several times, and every e-mail has been from this same Jason Hernandez. Last Monday (7/22), he upgraded my shipping to 2-day Air (as I mentioned the Googlegear shipping as the reason I wanted to cancel) and said my CPU should be shipping by the end of the week. Now the story is "if all goes well we should be back on track by the end of the week." -- even less assurance this time, and "back on track" does not necessarily mean that my CPU will ship.

They seem to be a very small-staff operation (probably without much experience) that set some hot prices to grab the Pricewatch folks, and they've accrued way more orders than they can handle. And their policy of only cancelling orders over the phone has, whether deliberately or on accident, made it impossible for anyone to cancel if they get impatient -- meanwhile, your account is charged for the order very promptly.

In short, do NOT order from Edge Micro. They don't even have the best deal on this chip any more, and Googlegear has the retail version for a dollar more now, with 2-day shipping. I've had everything else I need for a new system for days, but I'm still waiting for this processor to ship (or to simply cancel, if I can manage that). I've NEVER had to wait even half this long for an online retailer to ship an in-stock item.

Oh yes these guys. I first purchased some memory from them. That went ok. Then I purchased a Duron 850 from them. It was an OEM version and it work great till 31 days after I purchased it. I started to get these really strange BSOD and then after a week the system wouldn't even post. Long story short after I replaced the BIOS chip(40 bucks) and the MB (70) I find out it was the damn chip. When I called them up and asked about returning it they only give you 15 days. Since then I stopped using them and warned everyone I knew to stay away from them. Sorry to hear about your problems I know how much it sucks.

No you don't.

Oh WOW MAN FAR OUT.

Geeks.com Ordering Is Being Turned Off...

After 17 years of service, almost half a billion dollars’ worth of computer products put in the hands of loyal Geeks worldwide, jobs for hundreds of people and support for their family members. That is what Geeks.com meant to us and the people who worked here. Words cannot express our gratitude for the relationships and customers we have developed.
But all good things come to an end.

As of today, Friday, August 2nd, 2013, we are turning off ordering on Geeks.com. We will cease to sell and ship products immediately. Geeks.com has always stood behind our products and don’t intend to stop now. We plan on fulfilling all of our responsibilities and liabilities, including, orders, any credits due will be issued, and we will have a small staff on hand to answer questions, to process returns, and to faithfully honor warranties. Please be patient as we will have no phone support. Please click here for any customer service related issues. If you have a problem with a product or a technical question we can help with, please send it here. The corporation itself is not closing. Our retail store in Oceanside California is open for business and will remain open!

Our vision has always been to provide the geeky tech consumer an alternative avenue to purchase quality refurbished and new techy products and gadgets. That vision was the cornerstone of our slogan “Best Deals Every Nanosecond”. Unfortunately after a lot of difficult consideration the owners of Geeks.com feel we are unable to come through on this vision any longer.

There are many why's... The e-commerce landscape, as well as the consumer electronics market, has changed dramatically with intense competition and a 1000lb gorilla (do we really need to say who) competitor that can lose millions of dollars to buy customers and suck up inventory. They can lose money with impunity, supported by the stock market. We cannot.

Our wholesale division Evertek.com is still available for our business to business customers. Please visit our website for further information.

That was unexpected.
