My G2 also had this issue and It's barely used. Definitely a MFG defect as alot of people are noticing it in their G2's..

Considering we like our toys, don't buy one until canon sorts it out..

I have this camera, and fortunately it is w/o "The crack" I still whole heartedly recommend this camera to anyone! This is the first negative I think I have read about this camera, and I still wouldn't trade it for anything else in the price range/mega pixle range. Good luck with your problem!

I've been following "the crack" issue myself. Yes, I have a small crack on my camera too. But, am I upset? No; I think they're crying over spilt milk over there at DPreview. These are the same people who freak if someone breathes down wrong on their camera. I'd still recommend one to anyone with the means.

*GTa <-- I got my G2 for around $700, and I am happy with what it does.
