Hey guys,

Ok, I've been doing my research and am getting close to making my purchases and finally setting up my network.
Anyway, my plan is basically this:

Ground floor: Cable modem/Wireless router----------->

----> Upstairs (through one floor, one or two walls, maybe 100 feet max) 2 PCs, 1 room apart, wireless PCI NICs.

...this will be a basic home network/broadband sharing network. Nothing too fancy, I just want the best range/reliability, and speed for around $60 or so for a router. Basic web-surfing, perhaps gaming, and downloading.

I've been reading old forum posts, and it seems the Buffalo Tech AirStation Turbo G (WHR-HP-G54)http://www.newegg.com/Product/...x?Item=N82E16833162134
is a popular choice, but everyone seems to say you must flash the firmware for it to be any good. But again, I just want pretty basic functionality. A good choice for a network noob?

Does this look like a good router for my needs? Can anyone recommend a better alternative brand or model in about the same price range?

By the way, I will be using the corresponding Buffalo Turbo G NICs with it.
I appreciate any and all input! Thanks guys!

Sound like a gopod plan.

However there is No Magic Router that cover every thing and every environment.

100 feet with obstructions might need a second Router/AP or other means to extend the Wireless.

So start with one and do not get to upset if you discover that you mih need second unt working as WDS (Buffalo does WDS out of the box).

BTW. Using the matching 125 (Turbo) Wireless Client devices would increase the Bandwidth (Speed) but not neccessarily the distance.
