which brand of card is better and why? I am going to buy an gtx 260 but the prices very from $299 for the msi to $369 for th evga

Which one should I get?

MSI, Asus, Gigabyte, etc. only have 1-3 year warranties and I'm not sure if they offer phone support. XFX, EVGA and BFG offer lifetime warranties. Don't know about XFX, but EVGA and BFG have 24/7 toll free (in USA) support lines. EVGA and BFG also have trade-up programs. If any of those things are of importance for you, then choose appropriately.

Also important to note that XFX is one of the cards to get for the highest resale value as they have a legititmate transferrable lifetime warranty.

So when you sell the card to another person it can still be warrantied.

I've always stuck with XFX...I've never had a problem with them and I love their transferrable lifetime warranty. I would go with the XFX, eVGA, or BFG brand cards just for their warranty or step-up deals (in the case of eVGA or BFG)...otherwise it doesn't make much of a difference.
