Donating old computer

Do a reinstall and put Windows User in its place,

or wipe the HDD if you plan to use Win XP on another computer.

It's a must. You benefit by protecting your privacy, and the recipient also gets a computer that isn't bogged down by needless data from your use of it.

I have both a floppy and bootable CD of this lying around just for this reason. A "NTFS Quick" isn't going to give you the protection of a 3 pass + verify wipe.

It takes longer, but it's worth the the peace of mind.
