Donate your Gmail invites to the troops

mangled

There's a site setup whereby you can donate your gmail invites to troops overseas who might find it useful for keeping in touch. Yeah, there are plenty of other options, but it's a nice gesture. I did it and even started up some correspondence with a soldier stationed in Mosul because of the invite.

Nice, I'd give one if I could. Question: Does one get a certain amount of invites after recieving an invite and starting up an account, or how does that work?

<--- Doesn't have a gmail account but would like one. 😀

Yeah, that's how it works...but they don't come right away.

Yep, every so often

Silly troops, they don't need Gmail. Donate your used flak jackets instead.

Sharing pics with friends and family over email takes more than a hotmail account.

If it's indeed for the troops, which I don't really see how they would distribute it to "the troops", then it would have like a .gov something.

A lot of things "for the troops" aren't realy "for the troops", if you know what I mean. I was in the military, and never once did we requested an email account from yahoo, or hotmail or anything of that sort. If anything, it's personal and we do it on our own, besides that, each organization has their own email addresses, hosted by the military themselves (security). Capiche?

There's plenty of organizations that help out the troops that aren't run by the government.

All of us have our own email addresses too, and yet still some of us want a gmail account. I guess some of the troops are no different. What's the worst that could happen, gmail4troops.com is run by an organization in the Caribbean and they're selling all of the invites on ebay for... $0.75/ea?

One of the persons who started the site was Wil Wheaton (from Star Trek TNG)

So only government organizations are allowed to setup donations for troops?

Why does anyone want a Gmail account if they have personal email? You only use one email address???
