Heya

Many of you probably remember me posting about my daughters band being invited to the New Years day parade in London, which was initially declined by the School Super. Well we have managed to get that overturned and the parents are the ones that decided they will go. Well we have lost over 1 month of fund raising to pay for this trip (It will be over $250,000 for students alone) because we were told to stop since we are not going.

Now that we are going, we need to work twice as hard to get the funds raised.

I am asking for donations from Anandtech members and their friends, relatves etc....
At this point any amount will help build up the total, even $1.00.

What I can do in return is send everyone who donates a cd with pics and video of the trip after they get back. I am going to send my digital camera with my daughter when she goes and 2 1gb memory cards so I will have plenty of pics and video to choose from.

Please help out any way you can. If you live in the area, keep an eye out for car washes, golf tourney's etc.... we are planning all sorts of things to raise this money in time.

Your donations will be going to a great cause!

Thanks for the time

*BUMP* for a good cause.

However...250k for this trip???? That seems a little steep....

Unless you're sending at least 175 students, you need someone else making these travel arrangements... That's more than a bit steep - that's very steep.

It will cost at most $1936.00 per student. At 137 students in the band, well it amounts to over $250,000, then we have to come up with the funds for the select parents and school officials to accompany them. We are looking at over $300,000.00 for the entire trip for everyone who is going. Right now we are just working on the funds for the band itself, then we will worry about the adults....

close... 137 band members + any new incoming freshmen....

EDIT: also, we do have someone making the arrangements for us. I couldn't imagine the logistics of getting and entire marching band overseas without problems. I have no problems letting someone who is familiar with that sort of thing to arrange the flight etc....

that is rediculous...buy me a house

I didn't say it was cheap. Nothing is cheap in the world we live in today.

Today $300,000.00 will not get you any type of decent house, so sorry, can't get you a house ;)

btw I am not going myself, but feel obligated to help raise the funds to make it happen, and since the School Board Super put a halt to our fundraising for a month, well it will be tight when it comes time for the first deposit (end of may), aaannnnddd I see Donation threads all the time for various things with what appears to usually be a good response from ATOTers soooo what better place to ask for donations:) even $1.00 will help, and get you a cd in about 9 months :)
