He may own a mansion and a yacht but he is still a birther.
Surrogates Rudy Guiliani and co-chair Kellyanne Conway claimed Trump is no longer a birther

Here is his abbreviated birther history including surrogates trying to close the issue.
http://www.cnn.com/2016/09/15/politics/donald-trump-obama-birther-united-states/index.html

So yesterday Trump has an interview with the Washington Post and was asked if Obama was born in the US. He gets a chance to put this to bed and his response is
Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump said in an interview here that he remains unwilling to say that President Obama was born in the United States
https://www.washingtonpost.com/poli...913162-7b61-11e6-ac8e-cf8e0dd91dc7_story.html

So Trump is still a birther because he has not publically renounced. In his own words it doesn't count unless he says it.
Don't believe the biased and phony media quoting people who work for my campaign. The only quote that matters is a quote from me!

Well, yeh, but his campaign puts a whole different & amazing spin on it-

Jason Miller, a campaign spokesman, released a statement reading, "In 2011, Mr. Trump was finally able to bring this ugly incident to its conclusion by successfully compelling President Obama to release his birth certificate. Mr. Trump did a great service to the President and the country by bringing closure to the issue that Hillary Clinton and her team first raised."

Donald is the real Hero, obviously.

the sad thing is that Donald & Company believe all those things and the sadder thing is the media lets them get away with it. Not like the hardcore Trump supporters care about the truth but there are voters on the fence who would - yet the media is silent and complicit with the Trump alternate reality vortex.

Such a hero. Can't wait for people who will say this is over how they make Trump's quote disappear.
The only quote that matters is a quote from me!

To be effective, The Big Lie must be so brazen that honest people can't believe that anyone would ever tell such an obvious lie. Therefore, it must be true.

The Clown is clearly a master of this form of propaganda.

You mean like "Donnie has a vagina"? "some people have said"

You’ll never convince true believers that they aren’t right. You’re just confusing them with facts.

They can't reason their way out of belief that they didn't reason their way into, but they can certainly simulate rationality to justify belief.

Trump can't come right out and admit the facts of the matter because if he did, he would lose the faith of a large chunk of the wingnut base that still believes this birther blather BS.

He's chained to it 'til it doesn't matter any more.

I dont agree with it or the birther movement but the strategy makes sense. The deplorables and birthers are one and the same. Obama is now on the trail for Clinton. What better way to rally the birthers and throw both Obama and Clinton off message than to consume yet another news cycle with the ridiculous. I just saw Trump is about to hold a major news conference on this and the media is eating it up.

Clinton doesnt have a message that resonates and inspires. How do you come up with a strategy to control the narrarive when you are contending with a showman who thrives on the game?

"Having successfully obtained President Obama's birth certificate when others could not, Mr. Trump believes that President Obama was born in the United States,"
What a steaming pile of utter bullshit. The only people who thought he wasn't born in the US were morons or racists or both. drumpf did absolutely nothing other than fan the flames on this pile of shit he helped create.
January-February 2011: Republican officials in several states introduce bills requiring future presidential candidates to provide copies of original birth certificates. Businessman Donald Trump speaks to the Conservative Political Action Conference and then begins mentioning his doubts about Obama's birth in media interviews.

April 7, 2011: Trump claims on morning talk shows that Obama's Kenyan grandmother said he was born in Kenya and she was there and witnessed the birth. PoliltiFact rates the claim False.

He also claims that the president "spent $2 million in legal fees trying to get away from this issue." PolitiFact rates that False.

You spread that lie long enough and hard enough and eventually it becomes 'truthier'

This is exactly the right behavior for a P.T. Barnum/Evel Knievel type showman.

"I'm gonna make a BIG announcement...but first a few words from our sponsors!"

Yet again Trump plays the media for free coverage. Trump knows that he has the media by the balls, so why not squeeze for some free airtime?

BREAKING: Trump admits world is round, water is wet, the sun is hot and birds suddenly appear every time you are near. Stay tuned for six dozen in-depth analyses from every major news operation.

He just got totally sick of lyin' tired ol' crooked Hillary saying Obama wasn't really President, and he put a stop to it! Period! He is now totally done talking about it. Nope! Not gonna do it!

Since Trump continued to deny the authenticity of Obamas birth certificate even after he released it everyone should just deny reality like he does and say "you are still a birther" "you never renounced", "you never apologized"

He still lied and said Hillary started it.

“As democracy is perfected, the office of president represents, more and more closely, the inner soul of the people. On some great and glorious day the plain folks of the land will reach their heart's desire at last and the White House will be adorned by a downright moron.”

And he lied when he said he finished it.

Hell, he tweeted birther nonsense more than 30 times after he 'finished it'. Apparently Donald Trump's amazing skills as a closer were unable to convince Donald Trump until this week. Lol.

A token announcement at the end of a bunch of me me me bluster carries no weight. He cannot undo history - a history that includes him as the father of birtherism. Until and unless he denounces the birther claim and the birther supporters with equal gusto to what he himself spread, he deserves that particular scarlet letter. That, he has not and will not do. When he loses in November, we sill still be left with the damage he has caused to the democratic process and the world.

That already happened. "Which guy would you rather invite to a BBQ?"
