I'll be at the University of Washington next year. I'm not always this cocky I swear. I'm just high on success.

I wonder if I get kicked in the can for doing running start instead of AP... Still, I find it funny how doing AP means you work your butt off to clear one or two classes that are required per test. While running start at least you are assured you get credits for if you finish the entire sequence. Ah well, at least I can apply to departments right after acceptance into a university since I'd already complete the basic reqs (calculus series, physics series, computer science series, and all the other basics required).

OP what is your intended major?...

I took 13 AP tests AND got my IB diploma. But it's mostly meaningless now, so don't get too excited for yourself.

I'm going to do some type of engineering, probably Aeronautics and Astronautics. I will participate in Air Force ROTC and then (obviously) do a tour in the Air Force. I got into the Air Force Academy and was very close to going but decided against it.

Both helped me skip a bunch of college courses... they definitely aren't meaningless.

Just a slight heads up, you still got a bit way to go towards applying for your intended department. Graduation reqs for undergraduate and graduates.

yeah I know. And I always made fun of the running start kids because I thought they missed out on high school. Not a big deal though, through the Air Force, Washington Scholars, and several other scholarships, I have enough for a free four years so I might as well use it up right?

I thought about out of state (I live in Olympia, WA) but I figured UW was great and I wasn't sure if the education out of state would be that much better for the increased cost/transportation/etc. Plus I have a full ride to UW or any Washington state school.

Did I make a bad choice?

There's nothing wrong with UW. People get snobby with their schools. Don't worry about it. If you have a free ride take it.

*shrug*, i wasn't knocking on UW, just wondering why you didn't choose to go out of state since you have the numbers to do so. If financials was an issue then that's perfectly understandable. I guess the argument of public state schools for cheap vs. elite private school for $$$ is an endless debate with alums from both systems arguing for their side. personally ive taken courses at both and the private school system is just harder overall and the quality of students tend to be better (academically, not necessarily in any other aspect).

I'm not too familiar with UW's engineering stuff since I wasn't an engineering major but i have a lot of premed friends and I know from what they tell me that UW's premed office isn't as organized as Duke's (my alma mater). Duke's premed system is pretty regimented, they really make sure their students put their best leg forward. UW's just kind of limps along and does the bare minimum for its students. but this could also be a matter of school size. PLus another thing to think about is: private schools = rich kids = rich parents = networking potential.

Good job with the AP scores! However, don't let it get to your head. When you arrive at college, there will be tons of people way smarter than you and there are tons of other people way smarter than those people who are way smarter than you.

5 is the highest score. 4-5 is generally good, a 3 is okay, and if you get below you didn't technically "pass". You have to do pretty badly to not pass.
